Drawing Near to The Healer

 

​God is The One Who Heals You    

​

The thief comes only to steal, slaughter, and destroy.  I’ve come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.  John 10:10 ISV

God sent Jesus so that we may have His eternal life in full abundance, which includes good health.   We saw directly in Acts 10:38 that people get sick because of the oppression of the devil and that God was The One healing people through Jesus.   In fact, God has gone to many lengths to show us that He’s the One Who heals us. 

 

The Bible says in Psalm 105 that when God delivered the Hebrews from slavery, “there was none feeble among them.”  A few days after God healed them, He revealed His identity to them saying,

… I am the Lord, the One Who heals you.  Exodus 15:26 GNT

​

Even nature shows us that God is the One Who heals us.  We know that God has made our bodies with mechanisms such as killing germs and reproducing cells, but we also know that God, Himself is Our Protector and all good and increase of good is from Him.  Our bodies have God’s Spirit of Life in them, keeping them alive and without God, they would die.     

​

Psa 103:2-3   Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:   Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases…

 

God considers healing a benefit of life with Him just as much as He gave His Word that He has forgiven all of our sinful ways.  But to bless Him and be healthy, we must remember His goodness.

We know Jesus as “The Prince of Peace”, and “Peace” is the Hebrew word “Shalom” which means complete, free of strife, and capable in every way including good health.   And what God promised in the Old Testament, Jesus Himself fulfilled in the New:

​

When the even was come, they brought unto Him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the spirits with His word, and healed all that were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet  Matthew 8:16-17  KJV 

​

God is truly faithful to heal us all, now and as long as our earthly bodies are alive.     

​

Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.  Philippians 1:6 KJV
